Three years.I have spent them sitting with this glass enclosure.What to place inside. What to leave out. What to set down. What to leave empty.The space between the elements. Over and over, I questioned even the beauty dwelling in the negative space.Making, then unmaking. Drawing up concepts, only to redraw them.After three years,
a landscape finally “emerged” within this glass enclosure. —Had my only goal been “completion,”
this is a landscape I surely would never have reached.In engaging with this piece, I realized one thing. Plants are simply beautiful, just as they are. I think that is exactly what I want to share.People are the same. Everyone is beautiful, exactly as they are. There is no need to try to become someone else. Looking at this landscape, I feel I’ve quietly come to understand this.Plants love the world. And the world loves the plants in return. It’s not just plants. People, animals—I believe it’s the same for all of us. Everyone loves the world, and everyone wishes to be loved by it.But the truth is, to be born into this world means being born to be loved, and to love. —Instead of trying so hard to earn love, somewhere along the way, we forget the reality: that we were already loved from the very beginning.Living in this world, it’s easy to lose sight of this. But I believe we can remember. We can remember that we are already loved. So, rather than trying so hard to love and be loved, I feel the plants are teaching us that it is okay to be loved exactly as we are.Me, and you too. Simply beautiful, just as we are.A tiny plant called moss taught me all of this. And every time I look at this landscape, I am reminded of it.

A landscape of towering, steep rock faces. This piece captures the scenery of sheer cliffs rising within a gorge, and it has been four years since it was first created. The moss has grown lush and beautiful, resembling how it naturally thrives in the wild. The moss and small plants originally placed at the base have gradually shifted over the four years — now covered with saxifrage and ferns that appeared on their own. After four years, the scene has transformed according to the natural life of the plants within the vessel. The original landscape at planting and the landscape today — both are deeply captivating in their own way.切り立つ岩の風景。制作から4年経過している渓谷の中にそびえ立つような切り立つ岩の風景を閉じ込めています。苔の姿は自然に自生している苔のような美しさで繁茂しています。下に植えた苔や草は4年の時間経過とともに自然に移り変わり、ユキノシタと植えた覚えのないシダでおおわれるようになりました。4年経過した姿は、容器の中の植物たちの命のままに移り変わった景色です。植え付けた最初の景色と今の景色。どちらも味わい深い景色になっています。#苔テラリウム #terrarium #mossterrarium #kokemizawa

植物は、ただありのままで美しい。 それを僕は伝えたいんだろうな。人も同じ。 ありのままでみんな美しい。なにものかになろうとなんか、しなくってもいいのよ。僕もいずれ枯れていく。 その時がくるまで、惜しみなく与えきったって思えたらそれでいいや。Plants are beautiful just as they are. これくらい全部のトレーで育ってくれたらいいなぁ✨と思いつつ、なかなか難しいよねーっていう日々ですが、綺麗な苔をみると元気になりますね。
